Pain from a headache is common source of discomfort for many Americans. There are a wide variety of over-the-counter and prescription medications for headache relief but they generally don’t address the underlying cause of the problem.
Headaches occur for many reasons and can vary greatly in their intensity and duration. If they arise on their own (these are primary headaches and are about 90% of all headaches) or be triggered because of some other health condition (these are secondary headaches).
Chiropractic care can be effective in preventing or reducing the frequency and severity of headaches. Chiropractic manipulation of the spine and neck is used to improve the alignment of the spine and relieve muscle tension. It also reduces nerve irritation and improves vascular flow. Massage and stretching can also help prevent future headaches.
