Absolutely. When practiced at the skill level of our Lyndhurst, Ohio, chiropractic care is quite safe. Though the manipulation techniques that chiropractors use can occasionally lead to some discomfort, this is no different than any other type of therapeutic interventions (such as those employed by physical therapists, athletic trainers, or massage therapists). Of course, there are some people with conditions (such as osteoporosis or rheumatoid arthritis) that need to be sure to disclose their conditions to your chiropractor before beginning chiropractic therapy, as these conditions can lead to adverse effects or complications in care. Spinal manipulations can cause some short-term discomfort, but this usually subsides within 24-48 hours of treatment and is generally a non issue for most patients.
